who we are
Robin Turnmire
Robin Turnmire, graduate of Friends University’s Organizational Management and Leadership program, has been guiding leaders in safety, ethics, and risk management for over 30 years. After a preventable industrial explosion claimed her brother and six coworkers, Robin refused to accept surface-level explanations. She set out to find all of the whys—and has dedicated her career to ensuring no team or family faces the same devastation.
Combining data-driven insights from her experience in healthcare and aviation with a fiercely direct approach to accountability, she exposes systemic failures and rebuilds them into structures that hold under pressure, not just on paper. She’s an in-demand consultant and speaker—challenging organizations to embed transparency, resilience, and ethical clarity into every decision.
What We Do
I help people, organizations, and communities see systems more clearly — where they fail, why, and how to rebuild them with integrity. My work spans ethics, art, and storytelling to translate complex ideas into human terms that drive change.
As the Principal Artist at Sann Nord Studios, I create visual works that explore reinvention, resilience, and the science of perception — using reclaimed materials, large-scale installations, and community art collaborations.
Through The Sann Nord Group’s ethics and accountability consulting, I help schools, nonprofits, and leaders build programs that connect moral reasoning to real-world systems — grounded in my Three Laws framework. I look to Nature, Science, and Humanity for guiding principles to integrate decision quality with strategic thinking in practical ways.
Through film and writing, including the documentary 11 Days and the book Not an Accident: The System Always Warns You, I investigate how policy, design, and human decisions intersect — revealing how hope, truth, and accountability can coexist without compromise.
My work brings together art, ethics, and action — turning personal experience into public good, and systemic insight into practical change.
Mission Statement
I confront systemic failure with compassion, courage, and truth — turning lived experience into actionable ethics that can rebuild trust in our institutions, resilience in our communities, and hope in our shared humanity. I live and work out of the ordinary, reusing, repurposing, and reinventing ideas, materials, and systems to reveal their hidden potential. Through my art, writing, and life experiences, I transform what was broken into blueprints for repair and renewal — restoring integrity where it’s been lost and proving that accountability and hope can coexist.
Why Sann Nord & Why A Vegvisir Style Compass?
Our founder has always lived by one rule — do the right thing, even when it seems insurmountable. Sann Nord, meaning True North in Old Norse, reflects that commitment.
The Vegvísir, or Viking compass rune, was said to guide its bearer through storms and safely home, even when the path ahead was unclear. We use it as a reminder that integrity is our guiding force — helping people and organizations find their own way when it matters most.
